Scholarship value:The Scholarship will have a value of up to $4000 per year for up to 36 months with payments aligned to the awarded University doctoral scholarship, plus provision for application for a 3-month extension.
Description:
The Wilf and Ruth Malcolm Doctoral Scholarship (formerly the Ruth and Wilf Malcolm Postgraduate Scholarship from 1996 to 2003, and the Wilf and Ruth Malcom Postgraduate Scholarship from 2003 to 2019) was established in 1996. The Scholarship fund was established from public donations to mark the retirement of Professor Wilf Malcolm as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waikato on 30 June 1994, and expected to support the most meritorious doctoral scholarship recipients each year. No application is required. The Scholarship is by nomination and is offered annually.
The fund is intended to provide substantial support for doctoral scholars enrolled or enrolling in a programme of study supported by a contestable University of Waikato funded doctoral scholarship.
Eligibility:
To be eligible, nominees must have been awarded and accepted one of the following University of Waikato doctoral scholarships in the preceding year:
1. University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship.
2. University of Waikato Māori Doctoral Scholarship.
3. University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship for Pacific Peoples.
4. Nominees awarded reduced-tenure doctoral scholarships are also eligible for consideration.
